Prof. Jikun Huang Won the MOST’s “973 Special Program” Funding on Climate Change Project

Recently, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in China has approved a study on the Impacts of Climate Change on Socio-economy and Adaptation Strategies, a project under the MOST’s “973 Special Program and led by Prof. Jikun Huang, Director of the Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy (CCAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The chief scientist of this project, Prof. Jikun Huang, will lead 20 principal investigators from 5 research institutes, including Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research in CAS, National Information Center in National Development and Reform Commission, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Normal University, and Institute of Technology Policy and Management in CAS.The overall goals of this project are to identify the pathway and mechanism of impacts and adaptation of climate change on China’s socio-economic system with global consideration, explore the major theories and methodologies of climate change economics, establish comprehensive simulation system of the impacts of climate change on socio-economic system, and quantitatively analyze the impacts of climate change on China’s socio-economy under different scenarios related to climate change and adaptation measures, and propose adaptation mechanism and national strategic plans to mitigate the impacts of climate change on socio-economic system in China.
