Third Round Survey on the “Public Goods/Services and Rural Development” Starts on March 30th, 2012
After one year of careful preparation, the third round survey on the “Public Goods/Services and Rural Development Project” starts on March 30th, 2012. The survey, led by the Rural Education Action Project (REAP) team at CCAP, will last about one month. The survey team consists of more than 120 trained enumerators (mainly master students) from universities and research institutes.

As a follow-up to the first two rounds conducted in 2005 and 2008, respectively, the survey team aims to track the 2000 households at 100 villages of 50 townships in 25 counties from five provinces (Jilin, Hebei, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Shaanxi). Enumerators collect detailed information on public goods and services, villagers’ satisfaction with the public goods and services, employment and income, the new rural cooperative medical system, the new rural pension system, etc.

This survey aims to help provide in-depth understanding of the profile of public goods and services investment in rural China, and to examine factors that are correlated with investment into public goods and services in rural China, as well as to evaluate the impact of public goods and services investment on villagers’ production, life and health.
