Professor Linxiu Zhang invited to chair session in the first conference on "Economics and Politics of Chocolate"
Professor Linxiu Zhang was invited to chair a session in the first conference on "Economics and Politics of Chocolate” held at the University of Leuven, Belgium on September 16-19, 2012. During the conference, Professor Zhang chaired the session entitled "The Experimental Economics of Chocolate." She also briefed the audience on the results of a study entitled “The Influence of Brand Information on Chocolate Preferences of Chinese Consumers” that she conducted with her doctoral student Ms Di Mo earlier in the year.

After the conference, Professor Zhang attended the doctoral defence of Ms Mo, serving as a jury member of LICOS (Center for Institutions and Economic Performance, University of Leuven).

On September 20, Professor Zhang also gave a talk entitled, “Overcoming Anemia in Rural China: Results from Randomized Control Trials (RCTs)” in at LICOS. In the talk Professor Zhang introduced how anemia affects the health and academic performance of children in developing countries, and shared how she and her research team used Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) and policy advocacy to reduce anemia among school-aged children in China’s poor rural areas.
