Professor Linxiu Zhang Invited to Present at the IAP Conference in Brazil

The InterAcademy Panel on International Issues Conference on "Grand Challenges and Integrated Innovations: Science for Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development" was hosted by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences between Feb 25-27, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Delegates of academies from 55 countries or regions around the world attended the conference this time. Professor Linxiu Zhang from CCAP was invited to give a plenary presentation at the conference.On Feb 25, Prof. Linxiu Zhang made a presentation at the first plenary theme on “The Future We Want: the Role of Science in Coping with the Grand Challenges Facing Humanity.” Prof. Zhang’s talk, entitled " Turning Research Results into Policy: Addressing Human Capital Challenges in China " was well received by conference participants. She discussed the challenges of China’s sustainable development, especially human capital (e.g., education and health) in those poor rural areas. She shared the experiences that her team has accumulated in conducting rigorous impact evaluation and turning evidence-based scientific results into policy recommendations in these areas.
