Canvas survey of the UNICEF funded project on maternal health service in rural areas completed
Starting from 1st of June 2012, the canvas survey of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Project—using Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) to improve the maternal health in poor rural areas—was carried out by a team lead by the Rural Education Action Project (REAP) at CCAP. Over six months of careful preparation, the project team designed the questionnaire and trained the enumerators. More than 30 trained enumerators (from Sichuan University, Northwestern University in Xi’an, Lanzhou University and Kunming Medical University) carried out the survey. In total, the survey team interviews about 1,000 women representatives and village leaders in more than 120 townships from 14 counties in Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan Provinces. The survey collected information about maternal health, basic social and economic status in the village. On the 25th of June, the canvas survey was completed successfully, and data entry and analysis are in progress.
