The Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) Promotion Workshop was successfully held in Xining, Qinghai Province
      On Jan 18th, 2013, the Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) Promotion Workshop was successfully held in Xining, Qinghai province. This workshop was co-sponsored by the Bureau of Education in Haidong prefecture, Qinghai Nationalities University, the Northwest Socioeconomic Development Research Center (NSDRC) at Xibei University, and the Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CCAP-CAS). The workshop attracts about 30 participants, including local officials from prefectural governments, county governments, education bureaus, as well as local stations of National Center of Educational Technology (NCETs), principals, teachers and students from pilot schools. At the workshop, participants shared experiences and lessons learned from the earlier two phases of CAL pilot in Qinghai. Moreover, they discussed the implementation of the third phase of CAL. Participants called involvement of all stakeholders to promote CAL in poor rural areas in China, as a way to closing the digital divide between rural and urban areas of China. Prof. Linxiu Zhang, deputy director of CCAP-CAS introduced the motivation and background of the CAL project at the workshop.
