Prof. Linxiu ZHANG, Deputy Director of CCAP Led a Delegation to Attend IAMO Forum, 2013

During July 18-22, 2013, Professor Linxiu ZHANG, deputy director of CCAP led a delegation of 6 faculty members and graduate students to attend the 2013 IAMO Forum in Halle, Germany. About 140 representatives from worldwide participated in the Forum. The theme of this year is “Rural Areas in Transition.” The Forum incorporated a total of 9 papers from CCAP.Professor ZHANG was invited to make key-note speech at the plenary session on “Services of General Interest. ” In her speech, titled “Education inequality as a challenge to development in China: Is there enough time to address them?” she discussed the challenges of that were brought by the education disparity between rural and urban China. Moreover, at the round table on “Perspectives of Rural Development Policy”, she shared the experience of China in narrowing the gap between rural and urban employment, income and public service, based on her own and her team’s research experience.
Besides, Professor ZHANG chaired a special session named “The challenges and opportunities that were faced by Chinese rural development”. Associate professors Renfu LUO and Chengfang LIU, Assistant professors Xiangping JIA and Hongmei Yi and graduate student Yangjie WANG made speeches at different sessions of the Forum.
